Acceleration
Services: Your intent to accelerate an account is communicated via letter at a predetermined
past due age. If no action is taken, the account is accelerated (and can be placed for
collection with your choice of agencies) and the borrower is informed via the Notice of Acceleration.
ACH
Payments: UAS allows borrowers to transfer payments electronically as an alternative to
sending checks through the mail.
Assignment
Forms: UAS provides a completed Borrower/Loan Information form for each account and an Assignment
Certification form for submission to the Department of Education for assignment.
Benefit
Forms Processing: The assigned Customer Relations Representative processes borrower
deferments and cancellations on behalf of the institution. If a form cannot be accepted, the
Representative works with the borrower to obtain additional information or to explain the ineligibility.
Cohort
Account Management: CAP ($) provides for UAS management of an institution's cohort
default rate in a results-oriented manner. UAS devises a customized plan that may include
targeted letters and telephone calls to reach the institution's target cohort default rate.
Collection
Agency Interfaces: UAS provides the only automated, electronic interface in the industry. UAS places new
accounts, provides transaction updates, records payments received at agencies, and processes "close & returns"
automatically - without manual intervention. With the institution's permission, agencies may view their
accounts through the UAS on-line system ($).
Collection
Management System: ASC (Account Scheduling & Collection) ($) is a complete
collection management system designed to support internal collection efforts. Features
allow for recording activity, scheduling contacts, generating form letters, and producing
management reports to evaluate individual and overall effectiveness.
Consolidated
Billing: UAS sends one comprehensive billing statement regardless
of the number or types of loans.
Credit
Bureau Reporting: UAS reports accounts to the institution's choice of national
credit bureau(s). Accounts are reported and updated monthly throughout the life of the loan.
DRAP
Letter Interface: As an optional service, UAS sends an electronic file of
delinquent accounts to the Department of Education for generation of default reduction
letters by the Department.
Due
Diligence Telephone Calls: UAS provides the 90-day telephone call required
by Perkins regulations. Accounts are resolved through deferments, forbearances,
payments, or payment arrangements. Calls at 30 and/or 60 days are available for an additional fee.
Edata:
Electronic Transaction File provides detail of all weekly transactions including financial, maintenance, and benefits. Indicates the user who entered each transaction. Data can be filtered to create customized ad hoc reports
Educational
Seminars: UAS provides regional seminars and a national LEARN conference. Topics
cover a wide range of issues important to student loan administrators.
Electronic
Bill Presentment & Payment: Borrowers can review their billing statements
and make payments via the Internet, through our proprietary web portal www.uasecho.com.
E-Signatures
(Electronically Signed Promissory Notes): Borrowers review personalized, loan-specific promissory notes and loan
program parameters via secure Internet web site, then sign their notes electronically. Process is available for
all notes (Master, Open-ended, Closed-ended) and all loan types (Perkins, Nursing, Health Professions/PCL/LDS,
institutional). Only UAS provides a choice of 3 methods of borrower authentication.
Entrance/Exit
Interviews: Web-based entrance counseling and exit interviews provide loan-specific rights and
responsibilities. Related management site provides downloadable files for interface with institution's
registration system.
Exit
Interview Kits: A complete packet of materials is sent for each exiting
student. The Kit contains a Final Truth-In-Lending Statement, repayment schedule,
Exit Interview Questionnaire, and program regulations. Kits arrive completely
collated and ready for presentation at the exit interview or for mailing to the borrower.
FTP
Interfaces: Transfer of electronic files between the institution and UAS
using File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
General
Ledger Feed: As an optional service ($), UAS can initiate an automated
download of end-of-month financial totals direct to the institution's general ledger file.
Grace
Period Notices: UAS sends notices during the initial and post-deferment
grace periods, at 90, 150 and 240 days.
Holds
and Releases Tracking: Hold Report provides monthly listing of past due accounts. MS Excel file allows for interface
with institution's registration system. Exit management web site provides information regarding borrowers who have not
completed exit interviews; file can be downloaded into institution's registration system.
Institutional
Loan Servicing: UAS can handle any requirement of State, institution,
or privately-funded loan programs.
Internet
Reports: 24/7 access to month-end financial reports.
Loan
Consolidation: UAS will manage the consolidation of federally-funded loans
from all sources. Representatives work with borrowers to answer questions and
complete paperwork, then monitor loan origination to ensure efficient service to
borrowers. Consolidation provides immediate funds to the institution while allowing
borrowers greater flexibility of repayment.
MACS
On-line System: Complete borrower account information available through the Internet. ($). Access to view and
update records in real-time.
National
Student Clearinghouse: UAS interfaces with the NSLC for receipt of enrollment information. UAS processes separation
dates ($) and student deferments for eligible borrowers.
NSLDS
Reporting: UAS reports to the National Student Loan Database as required by
the Department of Education. Information is reported in the format and on the schedule
established by the Department. Error reports received from NSLDS are reviewed by UAS and
forwarded to the institution.
Refunds:
As an optional service ($), UAS will research borrower credit balances and
provide direct refunds to appropriate borrowers. UAS sends refund checks directly
to borrowers and debits the institution's remittance accordingly.
Report
Media: UAS reports are available via the Internet and FTP transmission, and on
CD-ROM, tape, and hardcopy.
ScholA/R:
UAS provides e-billing and e-payment solutions for campus receivables, including tuition, fees, housing, meal plans,
bookstore. ScholA/R supports multiple payment instruments including credit and debits cards are ACH.
Skip
Tracing: Borrower Locator Service ($), uses Internet databases and unique proprietary tools to
find "lost" borrowers.
Toll-free
Telephone Numbers: Toll-free access for borrowers and direct, toll-free access
to individual representative for clients.
TRA
97 1098E/1098T Forms: As an optional service ($), UAS provides IRS 1098E/1098T forms for eligible borrowers.
UAS provides reporting to borrowers, the IRS and the institution. All borrower questions regarding the forms
should be directed to UAS.
Tuition
Billing through Select, a custom billing service from UAS: Tuition Installment Billing provides customized plans designed in partnership with the institution. Customized billing helps parents and students manage tuition payments through installment payments. Participants pay the cost of administration. This means no out-of-pocket expense for the University. Services include
- Custom brochure designed by UAS; mailed to selected students/sponsors and/or provided to University.
- Monthly billing statement.
- Automated lockbox payment processing.
- Toll-free access to Tuition Plan representative for students, sponsors, and University.
- Customized follow-up on delinquencies. The University can choose both the timing and the content of the reminder notices and/or telephone calls.
